Cleaning can remove fingerprints and loose dirt. Resurfacing goes further by carefully treating scratches in the clear reading-side surface. It can improve the finish and may help some skipping or read errors caused by surface damage; it cannot recreate lost data.
Can scratched game discs be repaired?
Our listed compatible CD/DVD game formats include PS1, PS2, original Xbox, Xbox 360 and standard-size Wii discs. Whether resurfacing helps depends on where and how deeply a disc is damaged. It cannot repair cracks or damage to the reflective or data layers.

Service scope
Our postal scratch-removal service covers the standard-size CD, DVD and compatible CD/DVD-based game disc formats listed on this page. Please do not send other formats or cracked, warped or delaminated discs. Resurfacing treats the clear reading side; it cannot repair label-side or data-layer damage.
Ordering and postage
Purchase the appropriate service and quantity online, then package your discs securely in protective sleeves or cases. Include your name and order number and follow the postal instructions supplied with your order. You are responsible for arranging and paying for postage to DiskCrafters unless your order expressly states otherwise. Please retain proof of posting and consider tracked or insured delivery for valuable discs. Return postage is handled according to your order.
Condition and repair results
Results depend on the nature and depth of existing damage. Any stated percentages, including 99%, 90% and 60% ‘like new’, are approximate cosmetic expectations, not guarantees. Deep scratches and gouges extending beneath the surface can remain visible. We cannot guarantee that a deeply scratched disc can be repaired or that any treated disc will play or read successfully.
Treatment and existing damage
Professional resurfacing removes a small amount of material from the disc’s clear surface. By purchasing the service, you authorise treatment appropriate to the selected service. Discs with previous resurfacing, severe wear, cracks, data-layer damage or other deterioration may be unsuitable. Treatment cannot recreate lost information or reverse pre-existing damage.
Discs that cannot be treated
If a disc received is outside our advertised service or we determine that treatment is unsuitable, we will contact you to discuss the available options before proceeding. Any refund or return arrangements will be handled in accordance with your order and applicable consumer law.
Valuable and irreplaceable discs
Please consider the risks before sending rare, collectible, sentimental or irreplaceable originals. Where possible, make a backup of readable data before posting. If the disc is your only copy or its value is unusually high, contact us before ordering so we can discuss whether this service is appropriate.
Timescales and delivery
Processing begins after your discs arrive and your order details can be matched. Any delivery or turnaround estimate is indicative unless a specific timeframe has been agreed. We will use reasonable care and skill while the discs are in our possession and arrange return delivery in accordance with your order. If there is a problem or delay, please contact us with your order number.
Cancellations, concerns and statutory rights
Your applicable consumer cancellation and statutory service rights remain unaffected. If you want us to begin a service during a statutory cancellation period, this requires your express request; where applicable, charges for work already carried out or loss of the cancellation right after full performance are governed by consumer law. If you believe the service has not been carried out with reasonable care and skill, contact us with your order details so we can address the concern.
