Plastic sleeve
Simple, lightweight protection for a printed CD. Choose the quantity, print finish and packaging options that suit the release.
Compare live DiskCrafters prices for printed CDs, sleeves, jewel cases and digipaks across typical short-run quantities. Choose a product and see your exact total before checkout.
The cheapest unit price is not always the cheapest order. A single sample, a run of 25 and an album order of 100 CDs each have different total costs, and some print finishes or packaging upgrades change the calculation.
Compare real package prices before you choose. The pricing table below reads current Shopify product variants instead of relying on an out-of-date advertised price.
Live starting totals read from product options, so you can compare the overall cost rather than an isolated per-disc headline.

How to compare order totals, unit prices, extras and delivery.
When looking for the cost of printing CDs in the UK, it is easy to compare two very different figures as if they represent the same product. One supplier might quote for a loose printed CD, another for a jewel case with a booklet, and a third might highlight a per-unit price calculated at several hundred copies. Those figures only become meaningful when the quantity, print finish, packaging and included services are the same.
DiskCrafters provides an online product configurator so you can select a real format and see the total for your chosen quantity. The comparison table on this page reads product variants from Shopify and shows the lowest available package total at specific quantities. These are starting figures, not guaranteed prices for every finish. Use the exact product page for additional options and the final order total.
A package costing more in total can still be cheaper per copy when a greater number of discs is ordered. This matters most when comparing a single proof with a run intended for sale. For example, a one-off copy includes file preparation and production attention concentrated into one item. When several identical CDs are made together, that work is shared across the run. The result is often a lower unit cost at larger quantities.
To budget accurately, decide how many copies you can use before comparing prices. A small self-release might require only five CDs for collaborators, while a gig needs a few dozen saleable copies. Divide the complete package total by the quantity if you want a unit-cost figure, then consider packaging, delivery and your expected selling price. Avoid committing to excessive stock solely to reach a lower headline unit rate.
If you already have sleeves or need promotional discs rather than retail-style album packaging, printed CDs without elaborate cases may be the simplest configuration. You still choose a disc-print finish and provide the audio or data to be recorded, but you are not buying printed board, a plastic case or additional inserts. That can make disc-only orders useful for studios, promotional campaigns and projects where packaging is supplied separately.
Compare colour matte, colour glossy and classic silver thermal options on the current disc-only product page. A specialist appearance such as a vinyl-style CD may cost differently because of the print format. Remember that a bare CD still needs appropriate handling and protection: if the audience will be receiving the disc through the post, include a sleeve or plan secure packaging into your budget.
Printed cardboard sleeves make the outer packaging part of the artwork without adding a rigid plastic case. They can be a sensible middle ground between a bare CD and a full album package, particularly for singles, EPs and small gig merchandise runs. The board must be printed, cut, creased and assembled, so the cost is not simply the price of an empty paper wallet.
An individual sleeve's overall value depends on how much presentation you need. If a simple front and back cover communicates the project, the sleeve may offer everything required. If you need a programme of lyrics, a multi-page booklet or an inlay with a spine, a jewel case could be better value for that particular audience. Look at the live product prices rather than choosing the cheapest format without considering the content.
Jewel-case CD prices vary with the tray and insert specification. The basic package includes the disc and a rigid case, while printed booklets, rear inlays and additional pages change what is supplied. A clear tray can be particularly effective when the artwork is printed to be seen behind the disc; a black tray gives a more traditional appearance. The design of the rear card and the front booklet should reflect the tray selected.
A simple two- or four-page booklet may suit a short release. More extensive pages can carry lyrics, performer credits and photography, but will generally require more print and finishing work. If the order is for a choir album, retail music release or commemorative recording, consider whether those notes add enough value to justify the cost. Choose the precise booklet specification before comparing quote totals.
A printed four-panel digipak is a different construction from a standard jewel case. The board is printed and folded, and a disc tray is fitted into the package. A digisleeve or digifile may use another printed-board construction without the same conventional tray. For artwork-led music releases, this type of packaging can feel distinctive and premium even at a modest quantity.
The price should be compared against what the format offers. A digipak can create a stronger presentation for a collector edition, while a lightweight card sleeve may make more commercial sense for basic gig stock. Some customers will choose a more elaborate format for a limited initial run and use a simpler one for promotional copies. Look at total project cost, likely audience and intended selling price before deciding.
Your disc-print choice is another variable. Full-colour glossy, uncoated matte, thermal silver and specialist styles use different consumables and processes. Product variants show the current pricing for the combinations supported by that format. Artwork design services, specialist booklets and optional wrapping may add to the total if selected. File errors can also delay an otherwise straightforward order, so use the correct artwork templates from the start.
Delivery must be evaluated separately from manufacturing. A light sleeve run may pack differently from a bulkier jewel-case order, and shipping charges depend on destination and parcel details. If you need a guaranteed arrival before a show or event, ask about production availability and the relevant courier options before ordering. Rush manufacturing can carry an additional fee and may not be available for every combination.
If the CDs are merchandise, think about the selling price fans will actually pay, any venue commission, delivery cost and the number of copies likely to sell. The difference between the retail price and the complete landed cost of each CD is what matters to an artist, rather than a headline figure that excludes printing or packaging. A more attractive package can sometimes support a higher retail price, but its manufacturing cost also needs to fit your budget.
For an online release, you may not need to purchase a large quantity at all. DiskCrafters offers on-demand fulfilment arrangements where compatible CDs can be made and shipped against individual fan orders. That changes the financial model: rather than holding paid inventory, you agree the manufacture and fulfilment cost and assess the earnings for each sale. Compare both approaches if demand is uncertain.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Diskcrafters are quite literally the best in the entire industry. Being on demand, affordable, based in the UK, all with insane customisation like the option for metadata, genuine Digipaks, Vinyl-style CDs, and Clear jewel cases, it’s easy to see why I rate them so highly. All of these seem like basic necessities for a normal CD, and yet the market nowadays seemed so deprived of it until Diskcrafters came along.
